Margie Hildebrand is an artist living in Morden MB. She has always been a prairie girl and especially is fond of southern Manitoba where she has lived most of her life. Margie has a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Manitoba 1987. She is mainly a painter working in watercolor and oils. She also does pottery on a small scale and loves to dabble in many other mediums, including fabric, wood and found objects.
Margie's art is mostly representational in her work, and loves color. It often depicts the activities of life in her rural environment and like to portray real places and people that she knows well and resonates with the local people. She likes being connected to the community by feeling a sense of what is special about Morden and it's people. However, occasionally she goes into the realm of fantasy and mythology as interesting subject matter, but hasn't found a large audience for that. Margie also usually has a fiber arts piece or quilt on the go.
When Margie does pottery, it is a freer outlet and is more whimsy, combining wheel thrown pieces with hand built embellishments or images. Combining drawing and pottery has been a recent challenge. Her plates and bowls with intricate drawings of birds, fruit and flowers have been well received.
